Auction Purchases and Machinery Relocation

Auctions can often provide a bargain, with machinery being bought at knock down , or clearance prices. However, once the auction is over the machinery must be relocated, and usually, very quickly.

As well as getting enquiries about larger machinery removals, we also receive a great number of calls from people who have bought machinery such as small lathes or milling machines at auction and need it collected and delivered within a day or two.

This is rarely possible, and isn’t the usual type of work we do. Here’s what we mean...

1) A machine may seem heavy at 750 kgs but we’re set up to work with far heavier projects, tens and hundreds of tonnes which means that although we can do it, with our equipment, it is not likely to be cost effective.

2) The projects we complete generally need site surveys, risk assessments, lift plans and method statements. All of which take time, so it needs to be planned in advance.

3) If an auction is in Scotland and the delivery point is in London, we need to charge for men and equipment to travel from the centre of the country up North and then back down South again. So, our pricing doesn’t ever start in the hundreds of pounds.

Exceptions to the Rule
There are always s exceptions to the rule, for example; if you buy a large machine, which weighs a few tonnes at auction and it needs to be relocated and installed, you’re likely to need us as a heavy lifting specialist.

Machinery removal and machinery relocation is at the heart of our business … but not the ‘small stuff’. Have a look at some of the images on this site and you’ll know if your auction purchase is something we can help you with.

If not, have a look at some of your options below…

Your Best Auction Purchase Relocation Options

Find a local haulier with a truck that has a HIAB crane hoist on the back, it’ll be more cost effective and easier.
If the place you bought the machinery has a fork lift they could load it onto a flatbed lorry, or if on a pallet, into a closed van, or even onto a trailer.
Find out about transport before you bid, that way you’ll know how high to go before it becomes uneconomical.

Hopefully this helps you plan your purchases, if you have any major machinery for removal or relocation we’ll be happy to help.
